The Gibson Flying V was released in 1958 but flopped commercially, with fewer than 100 made before it was discontinued in 1959 due to low demand. Its superior upper fret access made it a favorite of Albert King, who played it flipped for left-handed use, as well as early adopters Lonnie Mack, Dave Davies, and Keith Richards. The Flying V returned in 1967 with all-mahogany construction and a maestro vibrola, replacing earlier features. This 2008 Epiphone reissue features a comfortable late-'58 style neck, is in excellent condition, with only minor cosmetic damage, and its Indian rosewood fretboard and Korean craftsmanship compare well to current Gibson USA models.
